Your Tesla's paint code is on a label on the driver's door pillar. Here's where to look, what the code looks like, and how to find your colour if it's missing.

Where to look on your Tesla
- Driver's door pillar. Open the driver's door and check low down on the door pillar.
- Tesla app or account. Your order details list the paint by name.
What the code looks like
Tesla codes are four characters starting with P, such as PPSW (Pearl White Multi-Coat), PPMR (Red Multi-Coat), PMBL (Obsidian Black) or PR00 (Midnight Cherry Red).

- Search by colour. If you know the colour name or roughly what colour it is, filter our Tesla colour codes by colour and year to narrow it down.

What you’ll need
Once you have the code, the finish tells you what to order. Tesla colours fall into these groups:
Single-stage
Solid colours
One paint. It dries to a gloss finish, so no lacquer is needed.
2 Tesla colours
Two-stage
Metallic, pearl and most modern colours
Basecoat, then clear lacquer over the top. Matt colours need a matt lacquer instead.
45 Tesla colours
Three-stage
Pearl tri-coat colours
Basecoat, a pearl mid-coat, then clear lacquer. Order both paints together so they match.
